MeDirect sets allocation policy after €35.8m demand for new bond

Applications exceed available bonds

MeDirect Bank (Malta) plc has announced the allocation details for its new €30 million 5.85% unsecured subordinated bond issue, after applications from existing bondholders exceeded the amount available.

The Bank received applications totaling €35.83 million, almost 20% more than the €30 million on offer.

Of this amount, €33.98 million came from existing bondholders, while a further €1.85 million was requested through top-up applications.

How the bonds will be allocated

As applications exceeded the amount available, MeDirect has introduced a scaling-down process.

Applications of up to €152,900 will be accepted in full, while investors who applied for larger amounts will receive a maximum allocation of €152,900.

No bonds will be allocated for top-up applications.

The full €30 million has now been allocated, and investors who applied for more than they were allotted will receive a refund of the difference, without interest, by 13 October 2026.

Trading expected to begin on 14 October

The 5.85% unsecured subordinated bonds were issued at par with a nominal value of €100 each, raising up to €30 million for MeDirect Bank (Malta) plc. The securities are expected to be admitted to the Malta Stock Exchange’s Official List on 13 October 2026, with interest beginning to accrue from that date. Trading is expected to commence a day later, on 14 October 2026.
