MeDirect lists €30 million bond issue on Malta Stock Exchange

New bonds begin trading

MeDirect Bank (Malta) plc was granted admissibility to listing on the Malta Stock Exchange for €30 million in new bonds, following the successful completion of an exchange offer and the redemption of previously issued securities.

The 5.85% unsecured subordinated bonds, which mature between 2031 and 2036, were admitted to the Exchange’s Official List on 13 October 2026, with trading scheduled to begin the following day.

Bank cancels existing bonds

As part of the exchange process, MeDirect cancelled €9.88 million worth of bonds issued in 2017 and €19.30 million from its 2019 euro bond issue.

The Bank also redeemed the remaining 2017 euro bonds ahead of maturity, together with all outstanding 2017 sterling bonds. This means that none of its 2017 bonds remain in circulation.

Remaining bonds to be redeemed in November

MeDirect still has €12.90 million in 2019 euro bonds and £2.42 million in 2019 sterling bonds outstanding. These are expected to be redeemed on 5 November 2026.

Investors who accepted the exchange offer will receive their new bonds in line with the Bank’s allocation policy, with applicable interest calculated up to 13 October.

The transactions form part of MeDirect’s efforts to replace its existing bond issues with new securities.
