Malta Business Registry reminds companies of 12 December accounts deadline

Companies reminded of upcoming deadline

The Malta Business Registry (MBR) has reminded companies that they have until 12 December 2026 to submit their annual financial statements.

The deadline applies to companies whose financial year ended on 31 December 2025, according to a notice issued by the Registry on 12 October.

Companies are being urged to ensure that their accounts are submitted on time to avoid penalties.

Accounts must be submitted through BAROS

The MBR confirmed that all financial statements must be submitted online through the Business Automation Registry Online System (BAROS).

Company directors, secretaries and those responsible for preparing and filing accounts should ensure that all the required documents are ready and submitted before the deadline.

Penalties for missing the deadline

Companies that fail to submit their accounts by 12 December will face penalties.

The Registry warned that these include an initial penalty for late filing, followed by daily penalties for as long as the accounts remain outstanding.
