Treasury publishes latest bill-auction yields ahead of 20 August settlement

91-day bills attract stronger demand

Malta’s Treasury Department has published the results of its latest Treasury Bill auctions, held on 18 August 2026 and due for settlement on 20 August.

For the 91-day Treasury Bill maturing on 19 November 2026, carrying ISIN MT3100018659, investors submitted bids worth €70.794 million, while the Treasury allotted €15.739 million. This resulted in a bid-to-cover ratio of 4.50.

According to the official Treasury Bill auction results, the weighted-average yield on accepted bids was 2.219%, with yields ranging from 2.000% to 2.237%.

€9.6 million allotted in 182-day bills

Demand was lower for the longer-dated 182-day Treasury Bill, which matures on 18 February 2027 and carries ISIN MT3200017395.

Investors tendered €22.866 million, of which €9.604 million was allotted, resulting in a bid-to-cover ratio of 2.38. The weighted-average accepted yield stood at 2.205%, with accepted yields ranging from 2.000% to 2.230%.

Outstanding Treasury Bill balance approaches €907 million

The Treasury said the total outstanding nominal value of Treasury Bills will stand at €906.859 million on the 20 August issue date.

The auction results also show that the next auctions are scheduled for 25 August 2026. These will cover 91-day bills maturing on 26 November 2026 and 182-day bills maturing on 25 February 2027.
