July traffic reaches 1.19 million passengers

Malta International Airport plc reported that it handled 1,187,590 passenger movements during July 2026, representing a 14.7% increase compared with the same month a year earlier. The figures were published on 11 August 2026 through company announcement 493/2026, issued under Chapter 5 of the Capital Market Rules.

Seat capacity expands by 17.4%

The airport recorded a seat load factor of 87.6%, while available seat capacity increased by 17.4% year on year. MIA said the expansion was supported by higher aircraft movements, with the Maltese Islands benefiting from an average of 108 daily flights during the summer period.

Italy becomes MIA’s largest passenger market in July

Just over one fifth of passengers travelled to or from Italy in July, making it Malta International Airport’s largest market for the first time since February. The United Kingdom ranked second, while Poland placed third after passenger traffic increased by almost 50%. Germany and France ranked fourth and fifth respectively. Traffic from Germany declined marginally, while passenger numbers from France fell by 5.1%, mainly due to reduced flight frequencies on several routes.
