FinanceMalta explores opportunities to strengthen ties with New York’s financial services sector
Proposed International Expansion Initiative
FinanceMalta is exploring plans to host a dedicated financial-services event in New York as part of its broader strategy to strengthen Malta’s visibility in the North American market.
The initiative is currently being evaluated and could take place in spring 2027. It is intended to bring Malta’s financial-services offering directly to US-based investors, professional services firms, and business leaders. FinanceMalta is engaging with key stakeholders, including the US Embassy in Malta, as discussions progress.
Strengthening Malta–US Connectivity
The proposal follows the recent announcement of improved air connectivity between Malta and the United States, which FinanceMalta believes could enhance opportunities for investment promotion and cross-border commercial engagement.
According to FinanceMalta, stronger physical and economic links with the US market are expected to support Malta’s positioning as a competitive international financial centre.
Strategic Importance of International Visibility
FinanceMalta chairman George Vella emphasised the importance of maintaining Malta’s presence in major global financial hubs.
“Financial-services businesses increasingly seek jurisdictions that combine specialist expertise with regulatory certainty and strong international connections. Maintaining Malta’s visibility in major financial centres will therefore be important to the sector’s long-term competitiveness,” said George Vella.
The proposed New York event would complement FinanceMalta’s existing international promotional activities, including its established annual presence in London.
Building on Global Promotion Efforts
FinanceMalta aims to position Malta as a trusted, accessible, and specialised financial centre capable of supporting innovation and high-value business activity.
The organisation’s international strategy includes participation in key global financial markets and targeted outreach to institutional investors and professional service providers.
