Bank of Valletta changes plans for Chief Risk Officer appointment
Bank will not go ahead with appointment
Bank of Valletta plc (BOV) has announced that it will no longer proceed with its proposed appointment of a Chief Risk Officer.
The Bank confirmed the decision in a company announcement issued on 9 October 2026, referring to an earlier announcement published on 23 June 2026.
BOV did not give a reason for the change but confirmed that it would not be taking the application forward.
Current arrangements to remain in place
In the meantime, the Bank will continue with its existing temporary arrangements for managing and overseeing risk.
BOV explained that these arrangements will remain in place to ensure that its risk management function continues to operate effectively and independently.
The Bank will now look for a new Chief Risk Officer, whose appointment will need to receive regulatory approval.
No date has been given for when the new appointment is expected to take place.
Roderick Bartolo to continue working on bank projects
The Bank also provided an update regarding Roderick Bartolo, confirming that there are no matters concerning him that need to be disclosed under the Capital Markets Rules.
BOV added that it looks forward to continuing to work with him on specialised projects and other initiatives.
For now, the Bank’s existing risk management arrangements will continue while it works towards filling the Chief Risk Officer position.
